I nicely asked if they were real or fake and they would not answer and deleted my comments. I was very excited to get them for under $3 a piece but my children's health is more important. Thanks for this post. Hobbit mom, what co op was it? The sanding and paint jobs are poorly done. Are these even safe to give to my child to play with? How do I know they won't pose some kind of a lead hazard or something? I'm so disappointed. I have contacted the person who ran the co-op. I suspect she was unaware. She bought a large box and distributed them. We'll see what she says. I'm so glad I did and I am sorry you had to lose money.LaRee DeFreecehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10109348549269076132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4079506540232811585.post-5821086670422927872011-12-26T18:26:36.153-06:002011-12-26T18:26:36.153-06:00I totally did the same thing two nights ago. I found a bunch of Hong Kong auctions, thinking they were a good deal and then when I went looking for a Gordon (without tender, because we still have THAT part) I noticed he was smiling. Now, I've been watching Thomas videos for about 20 years now, first with my little brothers and now with my 4 kids. I know it's very rare that Gordon smiles. Then I noticed his eyebrows weren't the same as the authentic stock photo. When I searched his feedback he maintains that his ARE 100% original toys when someone complains by feedback. 100% original FAKES! Ugh. I reported to eBay, but I'm thinking they'll still make me pay for them. How upsetting!jonna80https://www.blogger.com/profile/05491973515266933900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4079506540232811585.post-42630889098411000052011-03-10T10:24:36.519-06:002011-03-10T10:24:36.519-06:00Uck, I bought some counterfeit Thomas the other ni...Uck, I bought some counterfeit Thomas the other night. I originally thought the woman was just trying to pass off used for new, and that was the reason they were re-packaged in cheap cellophane. I knew something was up, and I didn't follow my instincts. Now I've given them to my son, and have to take them away. I can't live with the possibility of lead in the paint (which the real Thomas stuff had a few year back, but it was recalled, nobody is checking or recalling counterfeit stuff). <br />Is doubly annoying since I am already out the cash (and can't get it back), we can't afford to go get some real ones really.zoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17018164116253392463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4079506540232811585.post-7733888937250701972011-01-03T14:56:15.690-06:002011-01-03T14:56:15.690-06:00Thanks for confirming I'm not nuts. It's Mavis and looks exactly like the one you show above, down to the strange font for the "Learning Curve Brands, Inc." stamp on the bottom. And I bought mine through Amazon, somehow thinking that was safer than ebay. Mistake. I'm sending a similarly worded email to my seller, hope I get as quick a response as you do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
